Let’s PIVOT! Perception of Instruction in Virtual/Online Teaching Scales

Classroom observations help improve student outcomes and provide actionable feedback for teachers’ professional growth. During the pandemic, educators had to quickly pivot to remote instruction. While observations continued, many district scales did not work well with virtual lessons. Come explore new virtual observation tools aligned with the Danielson Framework, Marzano Evaluation Model, and the NAGC-CEC Teacher Preparation Standards.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore new research-based virtual observation tools for online gifted education instruction aligned with the Danielson Framework, Marzano Evaluation Model, the NAGC-CEC PreK-Grade 12 Gifted Education Programming Standards, and NAGC-CEC Standards.
  • Identify key observable behaviors aligned with best practices for online teaching and gifted education. Provide actionable feedback to pre-service and in-service teachers who serve gifted students in virtual settings.
  • Select and use appropriate PIVOT observation tools that complement district observation forms based on gifted education services provided in schools.
