Creative thinking skills have been extensively investigated in tandem with social-emotional competencies. In this session, we explore the theoretical linkage between creativity and social-emotional development and discuss how corresponding research can inform classroom practices. Directed toward classroom practitioners, the session provides a theoretical framework and practical tools for differentiated instruction integrating students’ creativity and social-emotional learning.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe interactions between creativity and social-emotional competencies.
  • Develop teaching strategies to facilitate social-emotional learning through creative activities.
  • Engage in hands-on activities and develop evaluation templates for future use.
