This session provides new information about how Latino parents engage in parental academic socialization and consejos to convey the importance of education and support their child’s academic trajectory through developmental and educational perspectives.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees will have an increased understanding of how Latino parents are engaged in their child's education through home-based conversations.
Attendees will know the importance of being more empathetic and respectful of the non-traditional ways of Latino parental involvement.
Attendees will gain effective strategies for forging connections between schools and families to work together for the benefit of students.
